Astoria apartment in the spring

Lovely evening! Headed 2 park w/ Max, Queens folk smiling, neighbor w/ pit bulls blaring Metallica & thanking God I don’t live right by ’em!

View from Astoria Park, where I took you all the time

Nowhere I’d rather be than NYC in the spring; toddlers @ the park, moms taking iPhone photos, Harleys blaring 70s tunes, lunch on sidewalks.

Flatiron Building (used to pass all the time, by my shrink's office)

Empire State Building from Madison Park

The fountain at Madison Park

Just a beautiful day (and a cool iPhone photo app!)

I truly love New York City. If your daddy and I ever get rich, we want to have one home on Maui, one in New York!

Watching the health care bill signing ceremony. Max is clapping with everyone on the screen. :)

Another major milestone: Max pooped in the tub 4 the 1st time. Unfortunately was J bathing him while I laughed – & ultimately cleaned up. :)

Oh snap! Al Pacino/Tracy Morgan movie filming a few blocks from our home. Guess who’s going to be camping out on Ditmars & 31st!

April 20, 2010 7:24:10 AM HST via Twitterrific

You on the train

Pacino’s movie still filming by our stop. Saw crew, heard yelling on platform & thought it was him in scene. Was just some angry drunk. :(

View from our train stop

Haha, think I just stalled a scene on the set. Paused to peak while talking on the phone-I tend to be loud. Soon as I was done, they rolled.

The rumors are true: the Powers are moving to Maui, Hawaii. But, 5/30-6/7 in Chicago, 6/7-6/14 in Grass Valley, 6/14-6/27 in Seattle. Aloha!

April 22, 2010 10:50:57 AM HST via Twitterrific

We realized there were reasons to visit each of our families on the way to Maui. So we planned to spend a week in Chicago (during which I had a bad upper respiratory infection and slept nearly the whole time, going out, I believe, once), a week in Grass Valley (which was very hot! But great fun to see everyone, including a pregnant aunt Sarah!), and 2 weeks in Seattle (because grandma Snider knew we’d spend so much time with our friends that we needed to book more time so we could spend some with her!). It was great but exhausting. We may never do that again. Now it’s up to them to visit us here!

Bouts to see A Behanding In Spokane w/ Christopher Walken & Sam Rockwell. Woot! #d8nite

"A Behanding in Spokane"

Awesome play! & saw Dustin Hoffman chatting w/ friends on the sidewalk. Now tapas at Pipa. My hubby loves me! #d8nite

Your daddy is so much better at scrapbooking than I...

Looks like we found homes for both cats. Seattle kitty going to Brooklyn, Brooklyn kitty to L.A. Now for one last nap with Nezzie. :(

May 7, 2010 6:36:56 AM HST via Twitterrific

Our Nezzie, who Jason adopted the day of our 1st date. She's got a great new home in Brooklyn now.

Sweetie, our 3-legged kitty who we adopted after Dignan, Nezzie's bro died. Adopted my our friend Steve.

Max just flirted with Mary Lynn Rajskub (of 24) over Mothers’ Day brunch at Caravan of Dreams. And of course she flirted back. :)

I am an awesome mom. Not because of my parenting skillz but because I put on liquid eyeliner perfectly while Max hung off & wiggled my leg.

My son is so freaking adorable with the most gentle, generous spirit and the biggest heart! Want more of him!!!

May 14, 2010 11:54:27 AM HST via Twitterrific

I can’t remember exactly why I posted this. But you are so adorable, and you have such a giving spirit! Well, as much as a toddler can. :)

How could I be too depressed when I get to see this face each day?

Ever so blissful 3 sets of friends came to spend time w/ us esp. Ebony & Larry from Philly! Wish next 2 wks could just be hanging out.

May 16, 2010 1:11:18 PM HST via Twitterrific

Ebony and I (I hate/love this pic because I've lost tons of weight since then!)

I met Ebony online when I was in Germany back in 2001. I met her in person for the first time in New York in 2007 or so. We only saw each other in person a couple times, but she’s a great friend, and always in my heart. She is engaged to Larry and they’re getting married in November. Was really sad to leave before their wedding, but glad I finally got to meet Larry!  I’m sure we’ll see them on Maui sooner than later, too.

You and Larry

Dismantling everything that belongs to my young son in the place of his birth; selling/giving away/storing 90% of it. Not depressing at all!

Sitting down with hubby for last new Tuesday night #LOST ever. Bittersweet. Mostly bitter. :(

With Randa and Selma at the zoo

You were totally unafraid to feed the animals. So cool!

Just got back from Central Pk Zoo with one of my favorite mamas, Randa, and Salma. Max fed the sheep, goats, and llama. LOVED IT!

Our last get-together. I barely held it together.

Getting depressed bout leaving. But hubby has week off, friends lending us minivan to haul away stuff, & got my vitamin D at tanning salon.

Going to attempt to sleep now. LOST finale, last days of packing before leaving NY. Feeling a wee bit, incredibly overwhelmed and sad. :(

Moving sale signs

Packing. Donating. Selling. Shipping. Cleaning. Headache. Sick baby. Overworked hubby. Maximum stress. No mo’ a/c…. Napping.

Walking one of my regular routes for probably the last time ever whilst listening to Empire State of Mind. Fitting. But trying not to cry.

May 26, 2010 2:08:45 PM HST via Twitterrific

Just a typical street I used to walk down in NYC

Reading a sign that says “Baby Lamb – Baby Goat – Baby Pig”. It’s the Steinway Meat Factory. My son just fed baby goats and lambs. :(

The day we left, Kieran and Monica, your first favorite auntie and uncle

We had a going-away party the night before we left.  We stayed with uncle Kieran and aunt Monica that night, you and I, while daddy finished packing and tossing and sorting items for donation. You couldn’t handle how empty the apartment was. All of your baby furniture went to a family of refugees and most of our stuff we donated to Salvation Army or Randa, who was due with a boy a month after we left. The day we left was the most difficult. I began sobbing when we had to say goodbye to Kieran and Monica. Randa came and hugged me and I sobbed on her. I was just drained.

To be continued…
